Dr Chiara Board, PhD (Imperial College London), created P.Happi® after her own experiences with intimate health challenges. Wanting a better option, she drew on her expertise in Synthetic Biology and Bioengineering to develop a first-of-its-kind Bdellovibrio-based serum.
Her mission? To empower women with science-led, microbiome-friendly solutions that work in harmony with the body — supported by ongoing research from our lab in London.

P.Happi® has been clinically tested under the MyMicrobiome standard for vulvo-vaginal health and awarded an exceptional score qualifying it as officially "Microbiome-Friendly." This means it’s gentle, safe, and scientifically proven to support your intimate microbiome without causing imbalance — ideal for sensitive, unbalanced skin.
The test confirmed that the serum maintains a healthy balance of key bacteria (like Lactobacillus crispatus) and does not disturb the natural diversity or growth of protective microbes.
In vitro tests carried out by a third party where scientists exposed key vaginal microbes to the serum and observed their behaviour. They tested for microbial quality, the influence on natural healthy skin balance including its influence on bacterial diversity and growth behaviour of microbes. The result? No harm to beneficial bacteria, and no growth of harmful ones like E. coli or Staph. aureus.

Validated microbiome-friendly not only in a lab, but on real vaginal samples
Twice daily application of a serum containing B.Y.M.® 1405 to the external genitalia for two weeks did not alter the absolute abundance of vaginal Lactobacillus species (normal protective flora) colonising in 41 women.
Certified suitable for sensitive skin
Patch testing has been carried out by ADSL labs who have certified P.Happi as non-irritating and suitable for sensitive skin.
Twice a Day Application Improves Efficacy
In a study on peri- and post-menopausal women, participants swabbed their external genitalia throughout a 24-hour period of normal serum application.
In the evening, before reapplying the serum, B.Y.M.® 1405 was not detected in 47% of the participants' samples.
Twice daily use of P.Happi® is up to 64% more effective at maintaining protective levels of B.Y.M.® 1405 compared to skipping a day.
